Apricot Update January 9, 2024

  • Exports in December were 7,027 tons compared to 10,013 tons last year

  • Exports year to date are 32,163 tons compared to 41,756 tons last year, a drop of 23%

Exports are down 23% year to date which is in line with the reduction in overall supply which we estimate is 25 to 30% down on 2022 crop.

There has been buying activity for first half 2024 in recent days. Market is steady with high interest rates deterring exporters from covering foreword sales.

Supply of good quality remains tight, especially medium and small sizes. Natural are trading at a 20 to 30% premium to sulphured fruit. Organic is unavailable.

The weather is normal for the time of year, providing good cooling hours for the trees.
