Exports for July were 1,471 tons compared to 2,865 tons last year
Total exports for the 2025 season were 29,484 tons compared to 74,608 tons for the 2024 crop season.
The average FOB price for 2025 crop whole apricots was $9,272 per ton compared to $5,205 per ton for the 2024 crop
Following the total crop failure due to frost in April 2025 it was apparent that the ''so called 2025 crop'' exports would come 100% from the 2024 carryover. We had forecast that the carryover was 40,000 tons, of which 30,000 tons has been exported and the balance has been consumed domestically. Therefore we start the 2026 crop with more or less no carryover for the first time in a decade.
The 2025 harvest is underway. The majority of the fruits are size 1 and 2 due to the light fruit set. The quality is mixed with hail and speckling present in some areas. Sulphur levels are very high and given that the fruits are mostly large fruit with high sugar content, the levels are unlikely to drop quickly.
Organic availability is lower that expected.
Due to the light set in all areas, and given that a significant number of orchards have been pulled out due to the severe damage to the trees last year, it is difficult to predict a crop size, consensus is 60,000 to 80,000 tons, and this is inline with the official crop estimate of around 70,000 tons. Given the growers habit of holding at least a part of their crop back until the following season incase there is a frost and subsequently higher prices, we expect only around 50,000 tons will be exported up until the summer of 2027, a little better than last year but not the return to normal we were hoping for.
